Bin tipping devices
When waste is first collected into bins (e.g. into a 660 litre bin) and then poured into a larger waste compactor, it’s recommended to use a bin tipping device, “tipper”. The tippers can be fitted for all bins on the market – from 240 litres to 660 litres – or the roller cages. Tipping devices can be fixed to the compactor or installed separately e.g. on a loading dock, or directly next to the compactor. The solution can be customized according to the customer´s special requirements.
SMART functions on Europress bin tipping devices
Innovative SMART functions increase user comfort and safety also on the bin tipping devices. SMART features include e.g. automatic bin shaking mechanism, synchronised tipping with hydraulic/electric lid opening system
The hopper of compactors is selected based on the needs of the location. Feeding can take place on the ground, loading dock or through a wall. The hoppers are attached using strong bolts on the frame of the waste compactor, which is why the devices are easily adjusted to new purposes of use by changing the hopper. This way the infeed side is also easy to change, if the compactor’s location changes. Our standard hopper selection comprises 12 different models. Completely tailored customer-specific solutions can also be made, including waste chaft solutions for multi-storey buildings.
Lowered feeding vent
Waste compactors can be lowered by placing the machine’s hydraulics unit under the compactor section (Duo series compactors) or in the container (the so-called “hydraulics in container” solution on Combi and Combio series compactors). By lowering the compactor section the feed opening can also be lowered, which makes it easier to use the machine, especially when feeding takes place on ground level.
The waste compactors can also be located on a compactor platform instead of guide rails. In this case, the container can be raised, for example to the level of the loading dock or the transport carriage of the emptying vehicle. By placing the machine on a compactor platform, its height in the lifting situation is lowered. This way compactors can also be located in restricted and low spaces.
The wheels make the placing of the waste compactor easier. In the case of compactors with detachable containers (Duo, EPC and Mega series compactors) steel wheels at the front are standard equipment.
The guide rails help to place the waste compactor and its container in precisely the right spot. The rails are manufactured from durable 6-mm steel plate. At the installation site the rails are bolted onto the surface.
In a container equipped with a floating roof, the roof is equipped with hinges making the emptying of compacted waste material easier. The floating roof container is available for cardboard handling with the Europress Duo, EPC and Mega series waste compactors and the H&G screw compactors. When a restricted space limits the placement of the waste compactor, a turnable platform solution can be utilised. By turning the platform the compactor can be mounted on the vehicle in a better position. This way the compactor can also be put in places that would not offer sufficient space otherwise.
Fire prevention equipment
For fire prevention, the side of the compactor’s container can be equipped with 2 claw couplings for fire hoses. This enables extinguishing a fire by spraying water through the side directly onto the
burning waste material. Fire safety can be further improved by insulating the compactor’s container with fire wool and steel sheets.

Hydraulic/electric lid opening
An additional feature that makes it even easier to use the waste point. The feed hatch of the waste compactor can be opened and closed by pushing a button.
2-phase opening mechanism
The emptying door of the waste compactor’s container can be equipped with a 2-phase opening mechanism. The mechanism improves safety by opening the emptying door in stages, which prevents the collected material from forcing the door open.
Long-handle opening mechanism
The opening handle of the back door is located further away from the door, which makes the emptying of wet waste more agreeable, hygienic and safer.
Handling of wet/moist waste
Bottom heating system
In the Nordic countries the nature poses its own demands to compactors. Winter frost sets conditions to techniques and container emptying processes. If waste is liquid or wet, you should accessorise your compactor with bottom heating. Heating keeps the container base melted, so the waste won’t freeze in it. Without a heating the waste sticking in the container may cause problems when emptying it. Heater elements are installed in metal cases on the bottom of the container. The heater’s operation is controlled with a thermostat unit.
Organic waste and sometimes even mixed waste can smell bad. The problem is increased in the summertime, when the sun and heat warms up the container. This can be prevented by installing a cooler device which cools down the waste material inside the container. We utilize Finnish-made high-quality Lumikko 3,3 kW coolers.
Air purification (Ozone generator)
To prevent odour problems resultant of moist and organic waste, can a compactor be equipped with a ozone generator. Ozone is transferred in to the container to neutralize the odours caused by the waste material.
Container drainage system
Equipping a compactor with a container drainage system reduces its weight, which enables more waste to be treated before emptying the container. Liquids dripping from moist waste form acid solutions – removing these solutions reduces odour problems and increases container’s protection against corrosion.
